Step-1:

We are going to try and place some fall leaves on a tree and the first thing to do is find a tree that is in need of leaves.

Step-2:

Lets start by opening the picture and we will select a pretty Orange for our foreground.

Step-3:

For the background color we are going to select a dark brown color.

Step-4:

Your canvas should look like this now.

Step-5:

Lets select the brush tool and we are going to make the Brush Tip Shape and select the following:

Step-6:

Now to Shape Dynamics.

Step-7:

Scattering.

Step-8:

Color Dynamics

Step-9:

And last Other Dynamics and don't forget to check Smoothing.

Step-10:

Once you made all the selections above, lets create a new layer Layer-New-Layer and you can now start painting your leaves. Just brush up and down or to the side and fill all the empty spaces.

Step-11:

You can put as many as you need until you make it look all golden looking.

Step-12:

Once you are done, you can use the Eraser tool to remove the leaves that went out or control but if you were careful enough, you wont need to do that.
