Step-1:
We are going to try to make a custom shape that can be stored for later use. Lets start with a 400x400 document and lets create a new layer Layer-New-Layer. With the Rectangular Marquee Tool lets draw a rectangle in the middle of the canvas.

Step-2:
Choose Edit-Stroke and copy the data in the picture and using the Bucket Tool, fill it black. Click Select-Deselect.

Step-3:
Duplicate layer by Right-clicking it and choosing Duplicate Layer. Next, click on Edit-Transform Path-Rotate and make the Plus symbol.

Step-4:
Duplicate layer by Right-clicking it and choosing Duplicate Layer. Next, click on Edit-Transform Path-Rotate and set the new layer like in the picture.

Duplicate layer by Right-clicking it and choosing Duplicate Layer. Next, click on Edit-Transform Path-Rotate and set the new layer like in the picture.

Step-6:
This is what your project should look like now.

Step-7:
Start a new layer Layer-New-Layer and with the Elliptical Marquee Tool, draw a circle in the middle of your drawing. Right click it and choose Stroke and then 1.

Step-8:
Right-click again and this time choose Fill and select the black color.
|
Step-9:
And this is what you get. Now click Select-Deselect.

Step-10:
Start a new layer Layer-New-Layer and with the Elliptical Marquee Tool, draw a circle in the middle of your drawing. Right click it and choose Stroke and 1. Right-click again and choose Fill and select white as your color.

Step-11:
Click Select-Deselect and your shape is finished and all is left is to put it in the shape files.

Step-12:
Turn off Background Layer and then click on Layers-Merge visible and all your layers become one. Choose the Magic Wand Tool and click anywhere in your canvas. Go now to Select-Inverse and when you do that, only your figure should be selected. Now right click it and select Make Work Path.

Step-13:
When the pop up appears, copy the data in the picture.

Step-14:
We are now ready to create the shape.

Step-15:
Go to Edit-Define Custom Shape. When the pop up appears, give a name for your shape.

Step-16:
You are done! If you go to your shapes you will find the one you created somewhere in there.
