paperman
Step-1:

For this tutorial we need the picture of a newspaper. Open it and then create a new layer Layer-New-Layer.

Step-2:

Turn the paper layer off by clicking on the eye icon you see on the layer window. Using the Pen tool, draw some lines to begin forming the paper man. It is very simple and all you have to do is look at the pictures to get an idea.

Step-3:

Just try to draw the shape you see in this picture. Since this are mostly straight lines, just pick a place and click with the pen tool. To draw the head just make dots around an imaginary circle until you get to the beginning.

Step-4:

Right click your drawing and choose Make Selection.

Step-5:

When the pop up appears copy the data from the picture. Now turn the Newspaper layer on by clicking the eye icon and select it.

Step-6:

Now you have to click on Edit-Copy and then Edit-Paste. You have to try really hard to see the outline of the paper man. He is right there!

Step-7:

Once you do that, a new layer is created with the shape of the paper man. Turn off the paper layer so you can see your cutout. You can use the Move Tool to relocate your paper man if you want.

Step-8:

Now right click on layer and select Blending Options.

Step-9:

When the pop up appears, copy the data from the picture.

Step-10:

Now you have a shadow.

Step-11:

If you want to do more, repeat the process and then make these selections.

Step-12:

And you get the texture of a puzzle piece.
