enhancing colors thru levels |
Step-1:
Sometimes we take pictures where the color does not turn out the way we expected it. Once you look at the photograph you can see that is dull and flat and you can correct that using Levels. Open the picture you want to correct in Photoshop.
Step-2:
The first step will be to click on Layer-New Adjustment Layer-Levels and a window will pop up. I am going to name my layer Color Correction and then I am going to click OK.
Step-3:
Now we will click on Options and another window will pop up.
Step-4:
The first thing we will do is to check the box called Snap Neutral Mid tones. This will change any neutral mid tones to the color you select and to do that, you need to click on the circled box you see in the picture.
Step-5:
I selected a green color because that is the more appropriate for my picture. Now we are going to analyze the three algorithms you are presented with.
Step-6:
Enhance Monochromatic Contrast - This choice will give you a great deal of contrast but it will not shift the balance between the colors.
Step-7:
Enhance Per Channel Contrast: This selection will enhance the red tones, blue tones and green tones separately.
Step-8:
Find Dark & Light Colors: This is an option you should consider using if you prefer to give your picture its more natural tones.
Step-9:
For this particular picture I am going to select Enhance Per Channel Contrast and then I am going to click OK.
Step-10:
Notice the difference Before and After?
