In this tutorial we are going to try and create an effect that is half drawn and half picture. I have this shot of the Winged Victory and after I open it, I am going to click on Image-Adjustments-Desaturate.

The next thing we have to do es click on Filter-Custom-High Pass and we are going to change the Radius according to the document we are working with.

Now we need to duplicate the layer Layer-Duplicate Layer and then we will change the layer mode to Color Dodge.

This is an optional step: If you need to, you can darken the drawing a little to make it more noticeable. Click Image-Adjustments-Brightness/Contrast and adjust it as needed.

Now we will click on the Icon shown in the picture to add a Layer Mask.

Now select the Gradient Tool and select the option shown in the picture which is Foreground to Background.

Now grab the Gradient Tool and then draw a small horizontal line where you want the drawing and the picture join together.

Add this is what you get. Now save and you are finished.

ANd if you draw a vertical line instead, this is what you get.
