Step-1:

Open a new 400 x 400 document and fill the background with the following color: 363636 and your document should now look as follows. Now Click D to set the default settings.

Step-2:

Click on Filter-Render-Clouds.

Step-3:

Go now to Filter-Render-Difference Clouds.

Step-4:

We will now add some noise by clicking Filter-Noise-Add Noise and change the number to 2.

Step-5:

For the final touch, go to Filter-Render-Lighting Effects and enter the following settings:

Step-6:

And here is your rock texture.

Step-7:

If the picture came out darker than you needed it, go to Image-Adjust-Brightness/Contrast and play with the numbers until you find the color you are looking for.

Step-8:

And now you haver a lighter rock.
