Step-1:

Create a new layer of 2x2 Pixels and fill it with one dot. If you want to see this you have to really look in this picture as it is very small.

Step-2:

Click Edit-Define Pattern and give it a name. Discard document. Start a new layer 200x200 and fill layer with the pattern created. Click on the bucket and select pattern as the fill.

Step-3:

Draw a circle in the middle by using the Elliptical Marquee while holding Control. Now go to Filter-Distort-Spherize.

Step-4:

Click on Select-Inverse and then click Select-Modify-Expand and enter 3. After the selection has been made, go to Edit-Clear.

Step-5:

Right click the layer and select Blending-Options. Select Bevel and Emboss and enter 90 on the Size and 16 on Soften. At this point, you can change the colors for your sphere to any colors you want. Highlight should be set at 100 and Shadow at 30.

Step-6:

You can give it some color if you prefer. All you have to do is click on Image-Adjustment-Hue/Saturation and move the sliders to the color of your liking.
